Meet the designer- SENCE Copenhagen
If you’ve visited our boutique in recent months you may well have seen our latest introduction to our range of jewellery from SENCE Copenhagen. We love this range of jewellery, especially their leather wrap bracelets. Studded with semi-precious stones, these bracelets are a great way to instantly update your wardrobe, stack them up or mix with your own jewellery to add a funky twist to a simple outfit.
So we thought you might like to know a little more about the brand and it’s fabulous designs, here’s head designer Gitte Holmskov to tell you more…
When did you start designing jewellery? As long as I can remember I have been busy designing and creating. As a child I was always painting and drawing with passion, this developed later into creating things, such as sawing clothing and spicing the outfits up with my own, self-designed jewellery. For years I have been working with art and art in architecture, and have made jewelry as a leisure pursuit. Until three years ago I got to live out my dream and work as a full-time jewellery designer.
What is your philosophy about design, and about jewellery-design? My philosophy for design in general is: keep it simple, keep it elegant and use good materials. This is also my philosophy for designing jewellery. Designing jewellery for SENCE Copenhagen also means keeping up with the newest fashion trends and working with the colours of the season in the collection.
Regarding jewellery-design, for me it’s important that the SENCE-collection contains a variation of jewellery, for example elegant basics and some more contemporary pieces. These pieces should compliment one another so a SENCE Copenhagen customer is able to create her own personal look.
What inspires you for your designs? I can be inspired from many different things. Often I’m inspired form organic shapes seen in nature, but also a walk through the urban jungle that cast shadows on the ground is a source of inspiration.
The SENCE Copenhagen range at Bishop Phillpott starts at just £18, here’s a little peek at some of the jewellery we now have in stock, including earrings, necklaces and the famous wrap bracelets.
