Step into Autumn with Woden trainers!

After season upon season of trainers being the go to footwear, it is pretty clear that trainers are here to stay. And quite rightly to, with their ability to go with pretty much anything from denim to dresses, making dresses much more wearable for everyday, and giving outfits that little bit of a sporty edge to bring them right up to date- not to mention the fact that they are so comfortble!

This season sees a whole host of new styles from Scandinavian brand Woden, who we have come to love for their trainers that are unlike other trainer brands on the market. There are so many things we love about this brand, from a style perspective their trainers are always a gorgeous combination of textures, from suede to sustainable salmon skin and metallic leathers that make them stand out from the rest of the trainer brands out there. We particularly love their platform sole styles for giving us that extra height and a little extra smartness to our outfits and we can't get enough of their cork insoles, not only is cork a great sustainable material, but it also makes the trainers beyond comfortable, believe us we spend many hours wearing them in the shop!!

Not only have Woden got their styles just right, but in their own words they are 'designed to last and be worn all day long', with a focus on craftsmanship, functionality and the perfect fit.

Their eco credentials are pretty great too, with some interesting & innovative materials being used:

Fish leather:

The fish leather that is used in all WODEN sneakers is a waste product from the Icelandic fishing and food industry. An industry in which only 1% of the skin is actually used, and the rest is destroyed. The fish leather, which comes primarily from salmon skins, is both hard-wearing and sustainable. This is due to the unique cross-fibre structure of the fish leather which makes it up to 10 times stronger than calf leather. The fish leather is treated and tanned in Iceland using gentle and eco-friendly methods aided by Iceland’s natural hot springs. This tanning process produces 0% carbon emissions.

Cork:

All insoles are covered with the characteristic WODEN cork. The cork that used is harvested in Argentina and Portugal. The bark of a cork tree can be harvested gently every ten years. Since the cork trees are not felled, the bark can be harvested over several hundred years. When the cork trees begin to form new bark, they convert carbon dioxide into oxygen. This contributes to a positive reduction in the planet’s CO2 levels.

Recycled rubber:

WODEN’s soles are made of 65% natural rubber, 10% recycled rubber and 25% conventionally produced rubber. The composition ensures elasticity and durability without compromising on support. Woden work continuously to increase the proportion of recycled rubber even more, but it must never compromise the quality of our sneakers.
